How to Get There
From Luena (Moxico capital): Caianda is northeast of Luena, on the road towards the Zambia border (Mwinilunga). A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially during rainy season.
From Zambia: Through the Mwinilunga border, a few kilometers from Caianda. Check visa and documentation requirements before travel.
From DRC: Through eastern border posts. Consult local authorities about crossing conditions.
From Luanda: Flight to Luena (D. João Castro Airport) followed by road travel to Caianda.
Best Time to Visit
Dry Season (May - October): Ideal period to visit. More accessible roads, pleasant weather and better conditions for exploring the region.
Rainy Season (November - April): Greener and more lush landscapes, but roads may become difficult. Recommended for adventurous visitors.
Special events: November (Angolan Independence), harvest season (varies by crop) and cross-border fairs.
